Pune: Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi \u2013 these great leaders of the nation sacrificed their lives for India\u2019s unity, integrity, and solidarity. True Indianness lies in remaining loyal to such leaders who laid down their lives for the nation, stated renowned litterateur and senior thinker Dr. Shripal Sabnis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the occasion of the 81st birth anniversary of late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, a floral tribute program was organized today at Katraj at Rajiv Gandhi\u2019s statue. Dr. Sabnis, along with other dignitaries, offered garlands to the statue and paid respects. While speaking at the event, Dr. Sabnis recalled Rajiv Gandhi\u2019s contribution to the nation. He said that secularism is the soul of India, and we must continue to move forward upholding that principle. The contribution of Rajiv Gandhi in this regard is truly memorable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senior Congress leader Ulhasdada Pawar presided over the program. He said, Rajiv Gandhi\u2019s contribution to the making of modern India is immense. The true tribute to him would be to follow the ideals he laid down and walk the path he showed. He further added that loyal Congressman Gopal Tiwari has erected statues of late Prime Ministers Lal Bahadur Shastri and Rajiv Gandhi in Pune, creating memorials that continue to inspire everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gopaldada Tiwari, senior spokesperson of the Pradesh Congress Committee and head of the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Committee, delivered the welcome address. He said, The foundation of Digital India was laid by Rajiv Gandhi himself. Because of this, during the difficult times of the Covid-19 pandemic, India did not come to a standstill. Through the medium of \u201cWork from Home,\u201d the wheel of progress continued to move forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this occasion, dignitaries were felicitated with a shawl, a basil (tulsi) plant, and a book titled \u201cMaharashtra\u2019s Contribution to Nation-Building\u201d written by Dhananjay Bijle, along with mementos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program was attended by former Minister of State Balasaheb Shivarkar, senior Congress leaders Shrikant Shirole, Rajiv Jagtap, Balasaheb Marne, senior journalist Avinash Godbole, Subhash Thorve, Garden Superintendent Dr. Jadhav, Nandkumar Papal, Bhola Wanjale, Rajendra Kharade, Aba Jagtap, Sanjay Abhang, Adv. Faiyaz Shaikh, Ramesh Sonkamble, Dhananjay Bhilare, Narsingh Andoli, Ganesh More, Balasaheb Bankhele, Subhash Jende, Mahesh Ambike, Adv. Santosh Jadhav, Adv. Swapnil Jagtap, Shankar Shirke, Ashok Kale, Rajesh Sutar, Vikas Dave, Mrs. Manisha Fate, Maruti Pansare, and many others. Adv.
