Pune: The historic and spiritually significant festival of Shree Kalbhairavnath Maharaj, revered as the Gramdaivat (presiding deity) and Kshetrapal of Pune, will be celebrated with great devotion and traditional fervour on Thursday, April 2, at Kasba Peth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The festival is being organized by Shree Bahiroba Dev Trust and Shree Kalbhairavnath Mandir. A series of religious rituals and cultural traditions will mark the occasion, including Laghu Rudra, Bhairav Ashtottar Shatnamavali, Aartis, Palkhi procession, Bagad ceremony, and Mahapuja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day will begin early morning at 6:30 AM with Laghu Rudra and Aarti, followed by Bhairav Ashtottar Shatnamavali and Madhyan Aarti at 12:00 PM. In the evening, a grand Palkhi procession will be taken out at 6:30 PM within the temple area , attracting devotees from across the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The highlight of the celebration, the traditional Bagad ceremony, will take place at 9:00 PM, followed by the final Aarti at 9:30 PM.
Shree Kalbhairavnath is regarded as a \u201cJagrut\u201d (living and responsive) deity of Pune, and the temple itself is known for its Hemadpanthi architectural style, particularly its sanctum (Garbhagriha) and central hall. The temple has been traditionally managed by the Ladkat family, and various religious festivals are organized here throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Kasba Peth, one of the oldest settlements in Pune with a history dating back over a thousand years, holds deep cultural and spiritual significance. The area is believed to be located near the sacred confluence (Triveni Sangam) of the Mula, Mutha, and Nag rivers, making it a revered site in local tradition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
