Amit Vaidya\u2019s mesmerizing performance at \u2018An Evening with Accordion\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pune: Timeless songs adorned with the enchanting melodies of the accordion\u2014such as \u201cPyar Hua Ikrar Hua,\u201d \u201cAaja Sanam Madhur Chandni Mein Hum,\u201d \u201cBabuji Dheere Chalna,\u201d and \u201cAaiye Meherbaan\u201d\u2014left the audience spellbound at the program \u2018An Evening with Accordion.\u2019 Accordion artist Amit Vaidya revived the essence of these classics through his performance, taking listeners on a nostalgic journey to the golden era of Hindi film music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The event, held at MES Bal Shikshan Auditorium in Kothrud, received an enthusiastic response from music lovers. The program was inaugurated in the presence of Colonel Prasad Mijar, Amit Apte, and Narendra Desai of Desai Bandhu Ambevle. This year\u2019s concert was dedicated to the birth centenaries of legendary actor Raj Kapoor (2024), eminent composer Salil Chowdhury (2025), and music director O. P. Nayyar (2026).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evening began on a melodious note with \u201cWoh Chand Khila\u201d and \u201cPyar Hua Ikrar Hua,\u201d setting a soulful ambiance. This was followed by songs like \u201cBan Ke Panchhi Gaaye Pyar Ka Tarana,\u201d \u201cDil Ki Nazar Se,\u201d \u201cAaja Sanam Madhur Chandni Mein Hum,\u201d \u201cJahan Main Jaati Hoon,\u201d and \u201cHar Dil Jo Pyar Karega,\u201d which transported the audience into a world of cherished memories. Performances of \u201cAhaha Rimjhim Ke Yeh Pyare Pyare\u201d and \u201cDil Se Dil Ki Dor Baandhu\u201d further enriched the musical experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The program also featured audio presentations of the title track from the film Madhumati and \u201cZulmi Sang Aankh Ladi.\u201d Songs like \u201cAaja Re Pardesi\u201d and \u201cItna Na Mujhse Tu Pyar Badha\u201d deeply moved the audience. A special audio presentation of \u201cSawan Ki Raaton Mein\u201d from the film Prem Patra showcased the creative use of dialogues and natural sound effects, offering a unique listening experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A distinctive highlight of the evening was the Marathi translation of Salil Chowdhury\u2019s poem \u201cEk Gucch Chabi\u2026\u201d presented by Ketaki Vaidya. The program beautifully showcased the unique musical style of Salil Chowdhury, including a presentation of the title music of Madhumati, demonstrating his extraordinary ability to convey an entire film\u2019s narrative through its opening composition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Additionally, audio clips of \u201cBachpan O Bachpan\u201d from Memdidi and \u201cZulmi Sang Aankh Ladi\u201d from Madhumati highlighted Salil Chowdhury\u2019s signature use of counter-melody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


A live demonstration was another major attraction, where Amit Apte played the main tune of \u201cAe Dil Kahan Teri Manzil,\u201d while Ketaki Vaidya complemented it vocally, effectively illustrating the concept of counter-melody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The program concluded on a high note with songs like \u201cBabuji Dheere Chalna,\u201d \u201cAaiye Meherbaan,\u201d \u201cPiya Piya Piya Jiya Pukare,\u201d and \u201cChain Se Humko Kabhi,\u201d leaving the audience mesmerized. Amit Vaidya was accompanied by Padmakar Gujar on dholak and Vinod Sonawane on octopad. Throughout the evening, the soothing strains of the accordion created a truly immersive musical experience.
