Against this backdrop, processing waste through Controlled Anaerobic Composting using Microbial Agents (ACCMA) technology, aided by patented microbes, has emerged as an effective and sustainable solution for waste management. This is the first research of its kind in the country.<br>The state-of-the-art organic waste processing plant developed by AVK Green Solutions Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of the Pinak Group, along with the environmental laboratory of Susterra Pvt. Ltd., was inaugurated on Saturday in the presence of Member of Parliament Medha Kulkarni, Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal, Leader of the Opposition in the Pune Municipal Corporation Adv. Nilesh Nikam, and Corporator Manjusha Khardekar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Also present were Pinak Group Chairman and Managing Director Dinesh Chandratre, Dr. Kirti Chandratre, Environmental Consultant Maithili Chandratre-Shetty, Nitin Deshpande and Milind Deshpande from the Marathi Builders Association, along with Pinak officials Nitin Naik, Suhas Joshi, and Hemant Pimpale. Maithili Chandratre presented the background of the research, while Anusha Kulkarni made a presentation on effective municipal solid waste management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The machine is called the Organic Waste Converter (OWC) and complies with the Government of India&#8217;s Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>While conventional composting takes several weeks or even months, the ACCMA technology completes the process efficiently within 24 to 36 hours. It converts biodegradable waste into high-quality organic fertilizer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The technology can be used by housing societies, hotels, hospitals, educational institutions, industries, market yards, gardens, municipal corporations, and religious places. The organic fertilizer produced by the machine enhances soil fertility and reduces dependence on chemical fertilizers, thereby promoting sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation. It also helps return the nutrients taken from nature back to the environment, Dinesh Chandratre explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The programme was compered by Tejaswini Masurkar, who also proposed the vote of thanks.<br>Organic Fertilizer Produced from Water Hyacinth<br>A five-tonne OWC machine installed near Pashan Lake is currently processing water hyacinth every day, producing approximately 70 kilograms of organic fertilizer daily. Chandratre said that after nearly a year of experimental trials, the project has been successfully implemented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Key Features of ACCMA Technology<br>Converts biodegradable solid waste into organic fertilizer within 24\u201336 hours.<br>Reduces waste volume by 85\u201390%.<br>Odour-free system requiring minimal manpower.<br>Reduces land usage, transportation costs, and carbon emissions.<br>Improves the soil&#8217;s water-holding capacity through enhanced organic carbon and nutrients.<br>Increases soil fertility while supporting sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Contributes to the Swachh Bharat Mission and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<br>Dignitaries&#8217; Remarks<br>Adv. Nilesh Nikam<br>&#8220;The Municipal Corporation has been making efforts to process waste. However, since an effective solution has not yet been found, the waste problem has become severe. As demonstrated by AVK, establishing decentralized waste processing plants with capacities of 5\u201310 tonnes at different locations across the city could effectively solve this issue.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Madhuri Misal<br>&#8220;It is our failure that despite being policymakers, we have not been able to resolve the city&#8217;s waste problem due to the absence of an effective policy. Establishing decentralized waste processing plants through the present model can solve this issue. Collective efforts are essential to make this happen.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Medha Kulkarni<br>&#8220;The Central Government frames good policies, but their implementation often remains confined to paper\u2014whether it is solar energy, water treatment, or waste processing. It is important to ensure that these projects are implemented scientifically. The Central Government has substantial funds available for waste processing projects.
