Youth Congress Protests Outside Lashkar Police Station Demanding Death Penalty for Swargate Rape Case Accused Dattatray Gade

Pune – The accused in the Swargate bus stand rape case, Dattatray Gade, was arrested from Gunat village in Shirur taluka. He has been brought to Lashkar Police Station and will soon be presented before the Pune District Sessions Court. Meanwhile, the Youth Congress staged a protest outside Lashkar Police Station, led by Maharashtra Pradesh Youth Congress Working President Shivraj More and Pune City President Saurabh Amarale.

The protestors demanded that the accused be given the death penalty and also called for the resignation of the Home Minister and Guardian Minister. Several leaders, including Maharashtra Pradesh Youth Congress Secretary Tariq Bagwan, Virdhawal Gade, Meghshyam Dharmawat, Anand Dubey, Ajinath Kedar, Ganesh Ubale, Pune District President Umesh Pawar, and other prominent workers such as Matin Sheikh (Hadapsar), Ajit Dhokale (Kothrud), Saddam Sheikh, Swapnil Gaikwad, Vishal Kamekar, Harshad Hande, Swapnil Shelar, Saurabh Rupnar, Vaibhav Burangule, and Murli Budhram, were present at the protest.

Speaking at the protest, Shivraj More said,
“Recently, the Home Minister was given an appreciation letter for his excellent work. On what basis was this letter awarded? Today, Pune is turning into a crime hub – who is responsible for this? This government has completely failed in ensuring women’s safety. If the accused is not given the death penalty, the Youth Congress will launch a massive protest across Maharashtra.”

Saurabh Amarale added,
“Crime rates in Pune are rising daily, yet the government is only making empty promises. Shockingly, the Home Minister has even blamed the victim. On one hand, they call women their ‘beloved sisters,’ and on the other, they remain silent when these very sisters face atrocities. The Swargate case must be tried in a fast-track court, and the accused must be sentenced to death.”
