Pune: In recognition of the sacrifices of Mata Ramai, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar ensured that women were given the highest status in the Indian Constitution, leading to a more empowered and aware society today. To pay tribute to the selfless Matoshri Ramabai Bhimrao Ambedkar, the Matoshri Ramabai Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti Festival Committee, in collaboration with Pune City, District West Maharashtra, organized a felicitation ceremony for accomplished women and a tribute gathering at Mahatma Phule Hall in Bopodi.

The event was presided over by Anand Kamble, with Adv. Ramesh Pawale, former MLA Adv. L.T. Sawant, Buddhacharya Manohar Shelar, Dr. Vijay Dhoble, committee president Bhimrao Sonawane, secretary Ankush Sathe, Suresh Rokde, Vanvardhani President Vijay Dhone, Indrajit Bhalerao, Mahendra Kamble, and other dignitaries in attendance.

The ceremony began with the garlanding of Ramai’s portrait by esteemed guests. This year’s Ramai Gaurav Award was presented to social worker Shobhat Tai Pandurang Bansode, who serves as the vice president of Pune Municipal Corporation’s Workers’ Union. The award was conferred by Adv. L.T. Sawant and Adv. Ramesh Pawale, who honored her with a memento, Panchsheel emblem, and a bouquet.

Additionally, women excelling in various fields were felicitated with mementos, including Dr. Anupama Dhoble (Kohale), Chhaya Tai Jadhav, Kamal Tai Kadam, Malan Tai Gaikwad, Dhamma Sevika Sujata Tai Sonkamble, and social worker Sundar Tai Owhal.

Recognition was also given to Adv. Vitthal Arude, recently appointed as a Notary, Public Relations Officer Sanjay More, social worker Vijay Gaikwad, and social activist Sadiq Bhai Shaikh. The event saw Ankush Sathe welcoming the guests, Bhimrao Sonawane delivering the opening remarks, Dutta Suryawanshi hosting the program, and Mukesh Yadav expressing gratitude with a vote of thanks.
