Pune: “Key issues such as equal water supply for the city, expansion of the Katraj-Kondhwa road, illegal constructions and plotting, division of the MSEB Kondhwa office, naming the flyover after Dharamveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, and the demand for an independent municipal corporation were raised in the assembly. The concerned authorities have responded positively, and a meeting has been scheduled in the Speaker’s chamber within a week. These issues are expected to be resolved soon,” stated Legislative Council MLA Yogeshanna Tilekar during a press interaction in Pune on Wednesday. This interaction was held in the wake of the recently concluded budget session. Present at the event were BJP Youth Wing’s Prof. Sachin Jayabhaye, Bhushan Nahata, Balasaheb Ghule, and others.

MLA Yogeshanna Tilekar said, “As a Legislative Council member, I had the opportunity to raise 32 starred questions, 11 calling attention motions, 9 matters of urgent public importance, and 7 special mentions during the budget session. I also presented my views on the labor department’s bill. Critical issues such as Pune’s water crisis, illegal and unauthorized plotting, and schools operating in unauthorized buildings in Kondhwa were brought to the minister’s attention, who assured immediate action. Additionally, I highlighted that despite an allocation of ₹280 crore for the Katraj-Kondhwa road project, the work has yet to begin.”

“The city’s urbanization is growing rapidly, placing immense pressure on the municipal administration. As a result, basic amenities are not reaching many areas. Despite paying taxes, suburban residents are not benefiting from development projects. Considering this, establishing an independent municipal corporation has become essential. Discussions with the Chief Minister are ongoing, and a decision is expected soon. The city is becoming overcrowded, and rampant construction activities by traders and developers need to be controlled. Talks with the Revenue Minister regarding this issue have been held,” he added.

MLA Tilekar further stated, “We demand that a cancer hospital be established on the land next to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cultural Hall and that it be named after Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, or alternatively, that a memorial for Dr. Ambedkar be built there. This land should not be handed over to private developers. Additionally, just like the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Memorial at Sangameshwar, a similar memorial should be constructed at Dharamveer Fort. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution, I had the privilege of delivering a speech on the Constitution in the assembly. Furthermore, we have requested an allocation of ₹100 crore and an ‘A’ grade designation for the development of Sant Savata Mali’s pilgrimage site at Aran (Solapur).”
