Launch of BPCL MAK Lubricant Sales at MNGL COCO CNG Station, Pimple Nilakh

Pune: Emphasizing that women’s empowerment should not remain limited to speeches but must be reflected when even the last woman in society stands with dignity, Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) celebrated International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm. On this occasion, MNGL honoured several accomplished and self-reliant women for their contributions. During the same event, the BPCL MAK Lubricant was also officially launched at the MNGL COCO CNG Station in Pimple Nilakh by the dignitaries present.

A key highlight of the programme was the recognition of women working across different sectors, including women employees working at MNGL’s CNG stations, women bus conductors from PMPML, women journalists and several others contributing significantly in their respective fields. The initiative was not just a corporate responsibility but also a gesture of social gratitude by MNGL to provide a rightful platform to these inspiring women.

Among the honoured women were individuals who have managed family responsibilities while also fighting social evils or contributing towards environmental causes. Listening to their experiences filled the audience with pride and inspiration.

Speaking on the occasion, PMPML bus conductor Mitali Deshmukh said,
“Being honoured by MNGL today is truly a recognition of our work. When I decided to step out and work to support my family, I had to face many struggles at different stages. People used to belittle me for working as a bus conductor. However, I faced those challenges with courage and today I contribute to my family’s progress. When I issue tickets or maintain discipline in crowded buses, I see trust in passengers’ eyes. Especially women passengers feel safer due to my presence, which makes me proud.”

Woman auto-rickshaw driver Soni Shendge said,
“The profession of driving a rickshaw is often looked down upon in society. When I decided to become a rickshaw driver, I initially faced opposition even from my family. However, I remained firm in my decision and continued working. When I was later recognised as Pune’s first woman rickshaw driver, my family too felt proud of my determination and courage.”

Additional Commissioner of Income Tax (Pune Division) Mugdha Sardeshpande said that every woman must recognize her own identity and strength. She emphasized that women contribute not only to their families but also play a crucial role in shaping society. She also encouraged women to focus on maintaining physical and mental health, promoting equality within families and developing financial literacy.
Speaking at the event, Independent Director of MNGL Bageshree Manthalkar said that women today are strong both physically and mentally. Despite being naturally sensitive, women have proven themselves socially, intellectually and economically. She cited Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who presented the country’s Union Budget for the ninth consecutive time, as a powerful example of women’s leadership. She added that if women contribute positively to society, they will certainly receive equally positive recognition.

On the occasion, BPCL TM Dhirendra Gautam, MNGL Managing Director Kumar Shankar, and Commercial Director Major Shankar Karjagi also shared their thoughts.

The programme highlighted that respect is not defined by position but by hard work, determination and perseverance. The event was attended by Additional Commissioner of Income Tax Mugdha Sardeshpande, MNGL Independent Director Bageshree Manthalkar, BPCL TM Dhirendra Gautam, MNGL Managing Director Kumar Shankar, Director (Commercial) Major Shankar Karjagi along with MNGL officials, employees and other dignitaries.

During the event, Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) also formally launched the sale of BPCL MAK Lubricants at its CNG stations.
