Declare Sambhaji Maharaj’s Martyrdom Day as ‘Mahamrityunjay Blood Donation Day’: Amit Gaikwad Demands from Maharashtra Government

Shiv Jayanti Mahotsav Committee, Pune Calls for Statewide Grand Blood Donation Tribute

Pune: The martyrdom day of Swarajya Protector Dharmaveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj on March 11 should be declared as “Mahamrityunjay Blood Donation Day” by the Maharashtra government, and a statewide blood donation movement should be organized on that day as a tribute to the great warrior. This demand has been made by Amit Gaikwad, Founder-President of the Shiv Jayanti Mahotsav Committee, Pune.

A grand blood donation tribute camp has been organized on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Shubharambh Lawns, Mhatre Bridge DP Road, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Participants in the event will include Veer Swarajya families from the Shiv Janmotsav Swarajya Rath procession, public Ganesh festival mandals, members of the Warkari sect, sports organizations, cooperative institutions, educational institutions, transport organizations, dhol-tasha groups, hotel and restaurant associations, film artists’ organizations, and citizens from various sectors.

Amit Gaikwad said that Dharmaveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj sacrificed every drop of his blood to protect Swarajya, the nation, and India’s glorious culture. Therefore, people should pay tribute to him through blood donation. He said that with the spirit of repaying blood with blood and strengthening the bond of humanity, the organization has been conducting this blood donation tribute program for the last 11 years, and they are confident that their mission will be fulfilled.

Present on the occasion were Sachin Paigude, Ravindra Kank, Sameer Jadhavrao, Shankar Kadu, Nilesh Jedge, Mangesh Shilimkar, Gopi Pawar, Kiran Desai, Sagar Pawar, Pravin Bhaiyya Gaikwad, Mohan Pasalkar, Kiran Shitole, along with coordinators from Ganesh festival mandals, the Warkari sect, sports and educational institutions, film artists, and dhol-tasha groups.
During the blood donation tribute, participants will join under the leadership of the Jijau Maasaheb Shahaji Maharaj Shivjyot Swarajya Rath from the Shiv Janmotsav Swarajya Rath procession. Descendants and representatives of many historic Swarajya warrior families and commanders, including those of Veer Baji Pasalkar, Kanhoji Naik Jedge, Krishnaji Naik Bandal, Senapati Yesaji Kank, Tanaji Malusare, Manaji Paigude, Kanhoji Naik Konde, Babaji Dhamdhere, Pilajirao Sans, Haibatrao Shilimkar, Trimbakrao Naik Nivgune, Jaitaji Naik Karanjawane, Changoji Kadu, Babaji Dohar Dhumal, Suryaji Kakade, Hambirrao Mohite, Santaji Ghorpade, Godaji Jagtap, Sidhoji Thopte, Kanhoji Angre, Prataprao Gujar, Bahirji Naik, Baji Prabhu Deshpande, and many other Swarajya loyalist families and organizations will participate.

Various Ganesh mandals, dhol-tasha groups, and social organizations will also join the program to pay tribute through blood donation.
