Spread the love A Collective Social Initiative to Bring a Historic Film to Life Pune: A decision has been taken to produce a grand Marathi feature film based on the life of Revolutionary Vastaad Lahuji Raghoji Salve, one of the greatest inspirations behind India’s social revolution, through public participation. Story writer and producer Sunil Ranganath Bhosale has appealed to all sections of society to come forward and support this historic initiative. The announcement was made during a press conference held at Pune Shramik Patrakar Bhavan, in the presence of Meghraj Rajebhosale, President of the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal, along with Dinkar Sakat, Deorao Sathe, Santosh Salve, Machhindra Thorat, Adv. Pradeep Sakat, Ashwini Kharade, and Anant Joshi. The concept of the film was initiated by Sunil Ranganath Bhosale from Adityanagar. Since 2023, extensive research has been completed, including the collection of historical references, as well as the writing of the story, screenplay, and dialogues. Location scouting at historical sites, preliminary discussions with artists, and technical planning have also reached the final stage. However, due to a lack of financial support, filming has not yet begun. Over the past three years, discussions were held with several producers, industrialists, and investors. Although the project initially received positive responses, many potential producers withdrew after learning that the film was based on the life of Lahuji Vastaad, causing the project to stall. While several films and literary works have been created on the disciples of Lahuji Vastaad and the great social reformers and revolutionaries inspired by him, no major feature film has ever been made on Lahuji Vastaad’s own life. This film aims to fill that historical void and will be developed as a film by society, for society. Lahuji Vastaad worked beyond the barriers of caste, religion, and sect, dedicating his life to nation-building. He inspired many legendary personalities, including Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule, Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, and Vasudev Balwant Phadke. The film will also portray several prominent historical figures such as Revolutionary Umaji Naik, Mahatma Phule, Savitribai Phule, Lokmanya Tilak, Vasudev Balwant Phadke, Dhondiba Desai, Sattu Naik, Sadashiv Ballal Govande, Munshi Gaffar Beg, Sakharam Yashwant Paranjape, and Moropant Vitthal Balvekar. The makers believe that this will not merely be a biographical film but a cultural tribute to the social and revolutionary history of Maharashtra and India. An appeal has been made to citizens, industrialists, institutions, historians, and history enthusiasts to extend financial, social, and moral support to this historic project. The media has also been requested to help spread awareness about this initiative so that it reaches a wider audience.
