The Festival to be Celebrated Nationwide from February 14 to February 28, 2025

Pune: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has announced the ‘Saksham Festival’ (Petroleum Conservation Festival) for 2025. Detailed information about this initiative was provided during a press conference by Prasad Sawji, District Planning Officer of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, and Ali Daruwala, spokesperson for the All India Petroleum Dealers Association.

Prasad Sawji said, “This festival is organized every year. Over the 15 days of the festival, various activities will be carried out. On February 23, 2025, a Cyclothon will be organized in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune. Additionally, various activities will be held at colleges and schools, including group discussions, wall painting competitions at colleges, fuel-efficient driving competitions, writing competitions, press conferences, and TV/radio talk shows. The tagline of this nationwide festival is ‘Green and Clean Energy for a Clean Environment.’ The opening ceremony will be held at 11:00 AM on February 14, 2025, at the Yashwantrao Chavan Centre, Rangswar Hall, near the Ministry, Mumbai-400021. Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) are at the forefront in promoting fuel-efficient devices and proposing policies to help the government conserve petroleum products.”

Ali Daruwala said, “The Saksham Festival is a significant national program initiated by the Government of India for the country’s energy security, sustainable development, and environmental protection. The ultimate goal of this program is to curb unnecessary spending on fossil fuels, reduce the increasing burden on foreign reserves, and protect the environment from the adverse effects of greenhouse gases produced by burning fossil fuels. We will also be putting up awareness posters at several petrol pumps.”
