Pune: The Shivdurga Darshan Committee of Dhole Patil College of Engineering, located in Dhole Patil Education Society, Kharadi, successfully completed the Rohida Fort campaign with great enthusiasm. Under the guidance of the honorable Chairman of Dhole Patil Education Society, Sagar Ulhas Dhole Patil, the committee was established with the aim of instilling the legacy of Maharashtra’s revered deity, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, into the minds of today’s youth. The committee works on fort and stronghold preservation and awareness activities, with a special focus on the forts that were witnesses to Maharaj’s reign.

The Dhole Patil Education Society Shivdurga Darshan Committee, in association with Shri Shivdurga Sanvardhan Pune, organized the “Rohida Durga Festival” at Rohida Fort, Taluka Bhor, Pune District.

During this campaign, the students, along with Shri Shivdurga Sanvardhan Pune, ensured the convenience of tourists visiting the fort by transporting materials from the base to the summit of the fort to construct sanitation facilities. Additionally, a short film was shot on the theme “If Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Jijau Maasaheb, Baji Prabhu, and the Mavalas were present on the fort today”, in which Vaishnavi Bangale, a student, played the main role of Jijau Maasaheb.

Under the leadership of Shivdurga Committee’s student representative Vedang Santosh Jadhav, a total of 31 members participated in tree care activities such as pruning, watering, and cleaning the grass around the fort. The students also collected trash and plastic bottles from the areas around Waghjai Buruj, Shirwale Buruj, Sarja Buruj, and Rohidmall Temple. Shri Shivdurga Sanvardhan Pune made arrangements for breakfast and lunch for all the participants, and everyone enjoyed the meal prepared collectively. The campaign concluded with a fort tour where Vaibhav Patil and Shankar Dhavale from Shri Shivdurga Sanvardhan provided students with precise information about the history of the fort and each of its structures.

Dhole Patil Education Society has maintained its uniqueness for many years by shaping students through the trinity of education, values, and service. The feeling of duty to preserve the invaluable legacy of the forts inherited from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is now being instilled in the hearts of the students.
