Spread the love Pune: On April 6, the Shriram Janmotsav (birth celebration of Lord Ram) was celebrated with devotion and traditional rituals at the Chavan Shriram Mandir in Kasba Peth. The celebration took a special turn this year as it was held in the presence of elderly residents from a senior citizens’ home and children from an orphanage run by the Janseva Foundation. The Chavan family is known for organizing the festival uniquely every year, with a sense of social responsibility. As part of the event, a free health check-up camp was organized for citizens, and individuals who have made significant contributions in the fields of social work, education, sports, and medicine were honored with the Shriram Sanman Award. Renowned scholar of saint literature and senior thinker Dr. Sadanand More was the chief guest. A special felicitation was given to Dr. Vinod Shah for his exceptional work in the fields of social service, education, and healthcare. Dr. More presented him with the award. The Chavan family also donated ₹21,000 to support the education of students from the Janseva Foundation established by Dr. Shah. The award comprised a shawl and a certificate of honor. Key attendees included Ganesh Chavan, President of the Shriram Chavan Mandir Trust; Bapu Gaikwad, Datta Sagar, Dr. Nitin Bhalerao, Marutrao Deshmukh, Appasaheb Gaikwad, and social worker Bhola Wanjale, among others. From the field of Kho-Kho, the following individuals were honored with the Shriram Sanman Award for their remarkable contributions: Pratik Vaikar, Captain of the Indian Kho-Kho team, Suyash Gargate, Vice-Captain, Aditya Ganpule, for outstanding performance in the sport,Shirin Godbole, Coach of the Indian Men’s Kho-Kho team,Prachi Vaikar, Coach of the Indian Women’s Kho-Kho team The free health check-up camp benefited 260 citizens. As part of the Ram Janmotsav celebration, Vidya Yande performed a kirtan (devotional discourse). She was accompanied by Ashok More on tabla, Pranav Talwalkar on harmonium, Dhananjay Salunke on percussion, and supporting vocalists Dr. Anagha Dhyagude and Kalyan Huddar.
