Pune : A grand fashion show titled “Srujan – The Creative Wings 2024-25” was held with great enthusiasm by the students of the Fashion Technology Department at Baburaoji Gholap College, under Pune District Education Board. The event showcased garments and designs created by students, aiming to provide those from modest backgrounds an experience akin to national and international fashion shows. It also offered them a platform to interact with industry leaders in the fields of fashion, textiles, and design. This year’s theme revolved around khadi and jute.

Held at Elpro City Square Mall Auditorium, Chinchwad, Pune, the event was graced by prominent personalities including Prof. Parag Kalkar (Pro-Vice Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University), University Registrar Jyoti Bhakare, Controller of Examinations Prabhakar Desai, SPPU Senate Member & Hon. Secretary of Pune District Education Board Adv. Sandeep Kadam, Principal Dr. Sangeeta V. Jagtap, Head of Department Prof. Preeti Sadashiv Joshi, jury members Deepali Joshi, Pooja Wagh, Prajakta Salve, University Management Council Member Bageshri Manthalkar, Dr. Nitin Ghorpade, Dr. Devidas Waydande, Dr. D.B. Pawar, Sandeep Palve, Principal Pandit Shelke, Dr. Tushar Shitole, Dr. Sharmila Chaudhary, Dr. Anjali Kalkar, Saroj Pandey, Yogesh Pawar, and others. The initiative also received best wishes from Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and President of Pune District Education Board.

Sandeep Kadam shared that the event was organized to provide students with a platform to showcase their creative talents and directly connect with the fashion industry through such experiential opportunities.

Dr. Sangeeta Jagtap remarked that in today’s trend-focused culture, people tend to replace clothes frequently. However, their students innovatively created modern outfits using sustainable materials like jute and khadi. The presence of dignitaries from various fields at the event will surely open future opportunities for the students.

Department head Prof. Preeti Sadashiv Joshi explained that the show was part of the graduation project. Students conducted research based on a specific theme and presented their designs accordingly. This year’s theme combined traditional jute with a modern aesthetic.

The successful execution of the fashion show was made possible through the support and guidance of department staff including Prof. Preeti Joshi, Veena Karande, Fatema Sayed, Anjali Bondre, and Rutuja Pataskar. Many parents were also present in large numbers. The event was hosted by RJ Bandya.
