Pune: The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Mumbai has announced that the preliminary round of the global quiz program, ‘Quiz on Korea 2026’, will be held in Pune. The event is being jointly organised by Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), in collaboration with the King Sejong Institute in Pune.

The announcement was made at a press conference by Vice Consul Kyeongbeom Kim and Dr Eunjoo Lim, Director of the King Sejong Institute, Pune.

The preliminary round in India is scheduled to take place on June 28, 2026, at the King Sejong Institute. The quiz aims to provide participants with an opportunity to showcase their knowledge of Korea, including its language, culture, history, and society, while also promoting greater interest in the country.

‘Quiz on Korea’ is a flagship cultural diplomacy initiative of the South Korean government. Preliminary rounds are conducted worldwide through Korean diplomatic missions, with one winner from each participating country advancing to the final round in Korea.

The winner of the Pune preliminary round will represent India at the global finals. Finalists will also get an opportunity to experience Korean culture and visit major historical and cultural sites in the country.

Officials from the Consulate said the event is expected to strengthen cultural ties and mutual understanding between India and South Korea. The Consulate also reiterated its commitment to promoting cultural exchange programs between the two nations.
