Spread the love Amit Vaidya’s mesmerizing performance at ‘An Evening with Accordion’ Pune: Timeless songs adorned with the enchanting melodies of the accordion—such as “Pyar Hua Ikrar Hua,” “Aaja Sanam Madhur Chandni Mein Hum,” “Babuji Dheere Chalna,” and “Aaiye Meherbaan”—left the audience spellbound at the program ‘An Evening with Accordion.’ Accordion artist Amit Vaidya revived the essence of these classics through his performance, taking listeners on a nostalgic journey to the golden era of Hindi film music. The event, held at MES Bal Shikshan Auditorium in Kothrud, received an enthusiastic response from music lovers. The program was inaugurated in the presence of Colonel Prasad Mijar, Amit Apte, and Narendra Desai of Desai Bandhu Ambevle. This year’s concert was dedicated to the birth centenaries of legendary actor Raj Kapoor (2024), eminent composer Salil Chowdhury (2025), and music director O. P. Nayyar (2026). The evening began on a melodious note with “Woh Chand Khila” and “Pyar Hua Ikrar Hua,” setting a soulful ambiance. This was followed by songs like “Ban Ke Panchhi Gaaye Pyar Ka Tarana,” “Dil Ki Nazar Se,” “Aaja Sanam Madhur Chandni Mein Hum,” “Jahan Main Jaati Hoon,” and “Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega,” which transported the audience into a world of cherished memories. Performances of “Ahaha Rimjhim Ke Yeh Pyare Pyare” and “Dil Se Dil Ki Dor Baandhu” further enriched the musical experience. The program also featured audio presentations of the title track from the film Madhumati and “Zulmi Sang Aankh Ladi.” Songs like “Aaja Re Pardesi” and “Itna Na Mujhse Tu Pyar Badha” deeply moved the audience. A special audio presentation of “Sawan Ki Raaton Mein” from the film Prem Patra showcased the creative use of dialogues and natural sound effects, offering a unique listening experience. A distinctive highlight of the evening was the Marathi translation of Salil Chowdhury’s poem “Ek Gucch Chabi…” presented by Ketaki Vaidya. The program beautifully showcased the unique musical style of Salil Chowdhury, including a presentation of the title music of Madhumati, demonstrating his extraordinary ability to convey an entire film’s narrative through its opening composition. Additionally, audio clips of “Bachpan O Bachpan” from Memdidi and “Zulmi Sang Aankh Ladi” from Madhumati highlighted Salil Chowdhury’s signature use of counter-melody. A live demonstration was another major attraction, where Amit Apte played the main tune of “Ae Dil Kahan Teri Manzil,” while Ketaki Vaidya complemented it vocally, effectively illustrating the concept of counter-melody. The program concluded on a high note with songs like “Babuji Dheere Chalna,” “Aaiye Meherbaan,” “Piya Piya Piya Jiya Pukare,” and “Chain Se Humko Kabhi,” leaving the audience mesmerized. Amit Vaidya was accompanied by Padmakar Gujar on dholak and Vinod Sonawane on octopad. Throughout the evening, the soothing strains of the accordion created a truly immersive musical experience. The program was compered by Suhas Kirloskar, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Ketaki Vaidya.
