Swami Govind Dev Giri Ji Maharaj at the Launch of “Gurūpekshahi Adhik”, the Marathi Translation by Nandini Acharya

Pune: A Sadguru is never merely a physical body; they transcend the limitations of the body. A Sadguru is a flow of grace-filled consciousness that manifests according to the spiritual practice and readiness of each seeker. People often compare gurus unnecessarily, but a Sadguru represents divine spiritual power.

Without worshipping, surrendering to, and aligning oneself with the Guru principle, true spiritual progress is impossible. This is affirmed by the scriptures. The divine flame of the Supreme Brahman shines through the form of the Sadguru, and through that connection, one gradually becomes one with the Divine. This state of realization is among the highest forms of spiritual bliss. Therefore, one should strive to receive the grace of that divine power, said Swami Govind Dev Giri Ji Maharaj.

He was speaking at the release of “Gurūpekshahi Adhik” (More Than a Guru), the Marathi translation by Nandini Acharya of the first English biography of P.P. Vaman Dattatraya Gulavani Maharaj, originally written by Srinivas Dattatraya Acharya. The book launch was held at the MES Auditorium, Bal Shikshan Mandir Hall, Mayur Colony, Kothrud.

Among those present were Gurubaba Ausekar Maharaj, senior litterateur Dr. N. M. Joshi, Principal Trustee of Gulavani Maharaj Ashram Vasudev Nivas Sharadshastri Joshi, Dr. Shailesh Gujar, Prasanna Joshi, organizers Nandini Acharya and Nageshree Acharya, and Su. Va. Joshi of Utkarsh Prakashan.

Swami Govind Dev Giri Maharaj further stated that in the spiritual journey toward attaining God, the greatest companion a seeker can have is the Sadguru. Progress on this path is impossible without the Guru’s grace. Therefore, a wise person should remain under the guidance and companionship of a true Sadguru.

He also remarked on the richness of Marathi spiritual literature, saying that Marathi possesses an unparalleled treasure of spiritual writings and wisdom. In his view, no other language in the world has been blessed with such a vast and profound body of spiritual literature.

Gurubaba Ausekar Maharaj said that divine grace and the blessings of a Sadguru are essential for progress in personal life. Grace and blessings are among the most precious gifts in the world and cannot be measured in monetary terms. One should serve selflessly and wholeheartedly, for it is through service that grace and blessings are attained.

He added that although modern society has achieved great material prosperity and comfort, people still seek inner peace, contentment, and happiness. True fulfillment can only be found at the feet of the Sadguru. There are no shortcuts to service in life; spiritual elevation can be achieved only through service, faith, and surrender. The Guru principle is supreme, and under the guidance of a Sadguru, life gains proper direction and true meaning.

Dr. N. M. Joshi observed that there was a common thread connecting Sadguru Gulavani Maharaj, Acharya, and himself—they had all served as teachers at N. M. V. School. He described these great personalities as “islands of light in an age of darkness.”

Sharadshastri Joshi said that Gulavani Maharaj, shaped by a great spiritual lineage, was an extraordinary personality. The words of Acharya themselves testify to his greatness. Therefore, spreading his teachings, following his path, and preserving the traditions of spiritual practice and service he established are the true duties of his devotees. He added that this noble work continues uninterrupted through Vasudev Nivas even today.

Nandini Acharya and Nageshree Acharya also shared their thoughts on the occasion, while Neelima Wadekar delivered the vote of thanks.
