Students Secure Silver and Bronze Medals in Prestigious Science Talent Competition

Pune : Aakash Educational Services Limited (AESL), the national leader in test preparatory services, proudly announced the exceptional performance of its students at the prestigious Dr. Homi Bhabha Balvaidnyanik Competition (DHBBVC) 2025–26, organised by the Greater Bombay Science Teachers’ Association (GBSTA).

The proud tradition of developing the scientific minds of tomorrow continues with recognitions from the Aakash centres at Pune and Kothrud based on the results of the Maharashtra (US)/Homi Bhabha academic science competition. This competition is one of the foremost science talent recognitions for high school students in Maharashtra.

Each year, the Dr. Homi Bhabha Balvaidnyanik Competition identifies and recognizes students through four rigorous phases: theoretical exams, practical assessments, interviews, and projects that allow for young talent with an aptitude for science to manifest in numerous ways.

This year, Suryanshu Jawale, a 9th-grade student at Aakash Kothrud, was awarded the Silver Medal for excellence in the competition’s judging criteria while Atharva Suryavanshi, also a ninth-grade student now attending Pune PCMC, earned the Bronze Medal, both achievements demonstrating a high level of academic commitment and achievement through practical application in the technical field of science.

The Dr. Homi Bhabha Balvaidnyanik Competition encourages students studying in the 6th and 9th standards to participate, offering examinations in both English and Marathi mediums. It comprises four stages – Theory competition, Practical competition, General interview, and Evaluation and interview on action research project. The competition aims to promote understanding, reasoning, correlation and application of scientific principles, with questions drawn primarily from Maharashtra state board science textbooks, as well as content from ICSE, IB, and CBSE science textbooks.
