Spread the love Pune: Since indigenous cows have lower milk production capacity, their maintenance is not commercially viable, leading many of them to be sheltered in gaushalas (cow shelters). To financially empower these gaushalas, the government has launched the ‘Govansh Pariposhan Yojana’ (Indigenous Cattle Nourishment Scheme), under which a daily grant of ₹50 per cow will be provided. Under this scheme, a total grant of ₹25.45 crore has been disbursed for 56,569 cows across 560 gaushalas in Maharashtra. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Animal Husbandry Minister Pankaja Munde extended their best wishes for the initiative, as announced by Goseva Commission Chairman Shekhar Mundada. Several key members of the Goseva Commission, including Dr. Sunil Suryavanshi, Sanjay Bhosale, Dr. Nitin Markandey, Uddhav Nerkar, Santkumar Gupta, Manish Verma, Paresh Shah, Deepak Bhagat, and Member Secretary Dr. Manjusha Pundalik, played a crucial role in implementing the scheme. Shekhar Mundada stated that the Govansh Pariposhan Yojana is credited to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, and Animal Husbandry Minister Pankaja Munde. The Maharashtra Goseva Commission is providing financial aid for cows registered in gaushalas to ensure their proper nourishment. Preserving indigenous cattle breeds is crucial for sustainable rural development, and this scheme will significantly contribute to accelerating progress in rural areas.
